Let it Snow!
Events, Jobs, Member Spotlight, and introducing the "Slack Digest"
Hello everyone! 2026 is off to a snowy start and we are are excited for our upcoming events to start reconnecting with many of you in person. Coming up we have an informal Nexus Coffee Meetup on Jan 23 and our Member Appreciation Event at Orange Bike Brewing in February.
In this edition the jobs & talent section and the member spotlight are back! We have also added a new “Slack Digest” section to highlight the most compelling conversation in the Nexus Slack, giving you visibility to jump back into conversations.
We are still working on perk bundles, the podcast, and digital events… and expect to provide more updates on those soon!
Lastly - if you want even deeper connections and direct access to everyone in the Nexus community please apply here to join us in the Nexus Slack group.

Career / Bio
I’m Gabriel de Oliveira, ‘Gabe Deo’ for short, and I am a Principal in IBM’s M&A organization. I am also a husband (to fellow nexus member, Haley Deo), and father to our five-month-old son. We live in Portland.
I was drawn to M&A for the fast-paced environment, and have stayed because it’s fun! Each transaction is unique and engaging. In the past year, I’ve worked on a $9M deal for a small start-up based in Innsbruck, Austria, and an $11B deal for the data-streaming company Confluent. On smaller deals, I lead full acquisition lifecycles including strategic assessments, valuations, negotiations and executions, and on larger deals I typically manage the due diligence processes and some smaller analyses. I also work to generate leads, scanning and qualifying potential acquisition opportunities in IBM’s target markets.
Why Maine
There really is no ‘before Maine’ for me – both Haley and I were born and raised in Portland. That being said, we both went out of state for college, and lived in New York for several years before deciding to move back in 2024. There was never any doubt we were going to come back; Maine always was, and is, home.
AFK
Most of my time now is spent being a new father, but outside of family moments, you can find me at Portland Community Squash or Saddleback Mountain in the winter, and at Moosehead Lake in the summer. My wife and I are also excited to bring our son on hikes, and I plan to play in some pick-up soccer games once the weather is warmer.
Let’s talk!
I’m always happy to geek out about anything business or finance related, or have a more serious conversation about Tech and Tech Services M&A. If you’re thinking about your first company purchase or sale and don’t have anyone else to talk to about what that may look like, I can be that guy for you.
Thank you for making this community special, everyone! See you on Slack.
